The Music Theatre NOW Archive
Music Theatre NOW is not only a competition and a platform for innovation, but also a growing archive for contemporary music theatre. Since the first edition in 2008 more than 1000 new works have been submitted.
As part of the ITI media library for dance and theatre in Berlin, the recent editions of MTN are preserved for scientific research. The non-commercial archive is open to students, scholars, artists and anyone with sufficient interest from all over the world in order to provide an insight into the production of music theatre.
MTN offers the opportunity for participants of the competition to become part of this fantastic archive and preserve their work in a professional institution.
Currently only the edition form 2015 is fully searchable online HERE. Past editions will become part of this database soon and currently are available only at our Berlin office.

Music Theatre NOW 2012
With nearly 400 applications from 51 countries the second edition of MTN exceeded the success of the first competition. The jury had a challenging task to select the works, that were "exemplary in terms of the development of contemporary music theatre" from the huge amount of material that was handed in.
Finally 17 productions were chosen to be presented at the meeting in 2013 that was kindly hosted by the Scenkonstbiennalen in Jönkopping, Sweden.

History of Music Theatre NOW
The International Music Theater Committee was founded in 1969 as a working group within the International Theatre Institute (ITI).
In 1983 the committee initiated a triennial event, the Music Theatre Workshop, whose goal was to exchange ideas on new works and developments in this genre. The artistic teams – composers/and or librettist and directors were invited to give lectures presenting the productions with the use of video.
Have a look at some of the publications from these events in the 80s and 90s HERE.
In 2008 the workshop was transformed into a worldwide competition with an international jury, reflecting a conscious attempt to expand the scope of the project outside of Europe and North America.
